Evan. Requita Sykes

The Evangelist, Requita Sykes, is a native of Chicago, Illinois where she began singing at the young age of five, playing the piano at age six, and playing the organ the age sixteen.

Under the guidance of her mother, Evangelist Sykes developed a love for gospel music.  Whether singing with her church choirs, the UNAC-5 choirs, under the direction of the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, Requita has ministered faithfully.   As an organist, she lent her talent in the accompaniment of many pastors and preachers as they ministered the preached word of God.   The late Bishop W.J. Campbell, the late Bishop L.H. Ford, the late Bishop G.E. Patterson, Dr. Juanita Bynum, and Bishop Jerry L. Maynard, are just a few of the clergy of which Requita has accompanied.

However, it was not until later in life when Requita’s singing ministry began to flourish. Her soulful soprano vocals have been articulated before renowned musical artists including Israel Houghton, Aaron Lindsey, Ricky Dillard, The Clark Sisters, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Kurt Carr, Percy Gray, Percy Bady, Darius Brooks, Warren and Erica Campbell, Judith McAllister, Donald Lawrence, John P. Kee, Tasha Cobbs-Leonard, and Carrie Underwood, to name a few.

On January 13, 2023, Requita released her first solo single, “So Good,” written and produced by her cousin, Brandon Scott.

Evangelist Sykes passionately serves with the gifts God blessed her with whether worshiping through song, teaching choirs or accompanying on the organ she considers it an honor and a privilege to do so.

When asked what scripture most reflects your life, Evangelist Sykes' stated.

Psalms 146:2 (KJV) which says, “While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praise unto my God while I have any being.”
